Au Naturale

The U.S. Constitution doesn’t guarantee happiness, only the pursuit of it. You have to catch up with it yourself."
Benjamin Franklin

I refuse to not be happy. We all have different ideas of what happiness means to us. I prefer easy going happiness. The kind you cant fake and when spotted you know it is real. The other day I came across a photo of James Dean. When I was younger my grandmother would reference a good looking man as a James Dean look-alike. I always knew it to be a compliment but at no time questioned the statement. Previous to that moment I had never looked at James Dean longer than two seconds. Being a part of a generation that plasters posters on walls of people that are attached to one great quote I have become quite familiar with his appearance. This particular photograph was a candid-esque shot of him drinking a glass of milk. (If you know me...I promise it wasn't the milk...) In the photograph, Dean had this natural happiness about him. I began searching for photographs of James Dean to study not just his appearance but the era in which he lived in. My imagination soared as I examined each photograph while mentally photoshopping my grandmother in each scene along the way. I imagined being a women in the forties and fifties riding on the back of my man's motorcycle, hair perfectly curled with my arms wrapped around his leather jacket. That would for sure put the happy in my ness.  Here's to a lifetime of natural happiness!

xoxo
